Building a Success State of Mind
Poverty is a huge risk factor for children, and unfortunately, it is all too common. Because the definition of an at-risk youth is so broad, in some respects, all youth are at risk in one way or another. So who fits the technical definition of “at risk?” An at-risk youth is a child who is less likely to transition successfully into adulthood. Children who come from low-income families are more likely to fit this definition. Youth from these low-income families are prone to be teen mothers, engage in gang activity and delinquent behaviors. The presence of one or more of the following risk factors increases the likelihood that children will be involved in the court system; school and community risk factors, family risk factors, individual risk factors and peer risk factors.
This Empowered U Organization focuses on teaching youth that in everything they pursue, their mindset and perspective matters. The goal of the Empowered U is to help youth change their view on life and getting them to a point of taking ownership of their decisions and become motivated for greatness. This organization supports goal-setting, self-discipline, responsibility, education, leadership initiatives and skill development that improve the youth’s sense of hopefulness. The purpose of this Organization is to empower youth to begin making healthy choices that will get them on the right track to success.
